GALVESTON,
TEXAS - On Friday, September 7th Beachtown Town
Founder, Tofigh Shirazi, presented Galveston Island
Mayor Lyda Ann Thomas with a check for $50,000.
The money is in support of the city's recently
announced East Beach Lagoon Preserve project on
Galveston Island.
The preserve will be developed from a master plan on property deeded
to the city by the U.S. Coast Guard in 2004. The entire track of
land surrounding Beachtown occupies about 790 acres (New York City's
famed Central Park is about 900 acres) that together convincingly
illustrates the natural beauty and ecological utility of a Texas
barrier island. Preliminary ideas for the preserve include a nature
center, birdwatching stations, canoeing and kayaking, a bicycle and
walking trail system with exercise stations, a natural beach and
dunes.
In thanking Beachtown's founder Shirazi for his generous gift in support of the East Beach Lagoon Preserve, Galveston Mayor Thomas commented "Beachtown will be to the East Beach Lagoon Preserve what 5th Ave. is to New York's Central Park, together creating a welcoming natural and man-made environment for Galvestonians and all our visitors to enjoy."
"Tofigh Shirazi's vision for the East End
and Beachtown has set an exceptional standard for
design and new construction on Galveston Island",
said Galveston City Council Member Dianna D. Puccetti. "His
announcement today and his generous gift in support
of the master plan for the East End Lagoon Preserve
demonstrates, once again, his passion for excellence
and the importance of the total environment in
achieving balance and overall quality of life."
Opening of East Village
The
infrastructure for East Village is completed. Galveston
Island Mayor Lyda Ann Thomas inaugrates the opening
of East Village in a ribbon cutting ceremony.
The Beachtown Clock Tower stands at the entrance
of the East Village. The Coastal Living Idea
house will be built in the East Village.
Bocce
Recently,
Galveston Mayor Lyda Ann Thomas took a few minutes out of her schedule
to enjoy a game of bocce ball at Beachtown. The new bocce court is
at Beachtown Square and Shiraz Passage.

Construction Activities
Construction
of five townhomes and the Coastal Living Idea House
have recently started. Five more townhomes and
several single family residences are expected to
start construction in the 4th quarter 2007. Also,
Beachtown's Town Center is expected to begin construction
in January 2008. The Town Center building is four
stories and will be comprised of retail and lofts
on the top floor.

What People Are Saying (and E-mailing) about Beachtown
"Oh my gosh!! My husband and I have been
pining away for a beach retreat of the "Seaside" variety
for 15 years, but the Destin area is just too far
for frequent drives. Who knew that if we waited
long enough there would be a wonderful place like
Beachtown right here in Texas! We have a 3-year-old
boy and are needing a beach retreat that will not
include 12 hours of "Are we there yet?" in
the car both ways. I have read every word of your
beautiful website and am hungry for more. Is there
a way to receive more information by e-mail or
regular mail?"
~ From Laura in Texas
"After 15 summers at Seaside FL I think
we need to look at Beachtown!"
~ From Maria in Texas
"We've been looking for a place to escape
to during the NE winters and Beachtown seems to
offer the lifestyle we treasure. Please send us
more information about Beachtown."
~ From Amy in Massachusetts
"We moved from Rockport, TX to Steamboat
Springs, CO and we are in the process of looking
for a second home on the Gulf in Texas- Beachtown
sounds perfect!"
~ From Stacy in Colorado
"My husband and I live in Massachusetts
and Palm Beach Florida. I am looking for a lifestyle
change with a real sense of community that is not
in Florida. I need to be directly on water. I love
Texas and the people. Please send info ASAP."
~ From Cynthia in Massachusetts
"We stay at The Galvestonian, next door
to Beachtown, when we're in Galveston. We make
3-4 trips to the beach each year, 2 of which are
always to Galveston. We are currently looking for
a beach home, not limiting ourselves to any particular
area. Beachtown appears to have several things
we are interested in and we would love more information."
~ Beth from Texas
"We would be very interested in seeing property
availability in Beachtown; please forward us all
your info. My wife and I moved to the East Coast
from Houston (one of our earliest dates was in
Galveston). East Coast real estate is ridiculous
and we would see far more value in owning something
in our beloved Texas."
~ Eric in Columbia, Maryland
